Custard Creams

Two Brits, a cup of tea, a famous biscuit and the best of sport, music, books, film, TV and anything else we like. We talk about the things that move us; that shape us. We look back at times when watching sport, reading a book or even things like a change in the way we shopped, has had an impact on who we are. We talk about what’s happening now, and wonder what of today’s culture will have a profound effect on us all. We studied together. We lived together for a bit when we first moved to London. We have played together in the same cricket team for many years. We now live in different cities - Bristol and London. This is our way of having and sharing a tea-break, sofa, watercooler conversation. Can’t say ’chat’ without thinking of Alan Partridge. Pull up a chair, grab a brew and a custard cream (bourbon if you must) and join us.

An international sports playing at the highest level went from winning about 5% of their games to winning 70%. The squad of players changed little. They got a new captain, but he had been in the team for years. What really changed was the coach and, most importantly, the mindset.
The coach and the captain have taken away the fear of failure and now they rarely fail. In fact, they have become not just winners but an inspiration.
Has the last word on coaching sports teams been written? Is this the way to manage any team in sport, in work, anywhere?
This is the story of the life lessons from the England cricket team and 'Bazball'.

John Travolta, Olivia Newton John and Stockard Channing star in possibly the best musical film of all time.
It was retro when it came out and yet chimed with people of all ages. The music, the themes of love, belonging tribalism and teenage cool, and the mesmerising performances created an impact then that still punches through today.

Esports is competitive video gaming. Hundreds of millions of fans watch hours of it every week. It is worth over a $billion annually and growing fast. It is massive business and the Olympics have wondered if it should be admitted.
What is it? What are people so interested in? Is it healthy? Does it offer something other sports don't?
